Hosting the Christmas Lunch can be a little stressful. However, getting organised early will ensure a day of ease! And there’s no reason you can’t have a little fun and get creative while you do it. From a decadent table setting and christmas themed sweets to DIY decorations! Here are our tips for creating the perfect Chrissy lunch.

Set a theme

The first step to creating the perfect Chrissy lunch is setting a theme. Choosing a theme will help with all of your next decisions. What colour napkins to use, the decorations you set out and even what’s on the menu!

Set the table like an expert

After a quick browse of “Christmas table settings” on Pinterest, you’ll be full of ideas in no time. Lay out a red table runner and placemats, top with white plates and gold cutlery and you’ll have your base. Build it up by adding some greenery and candles to the table runner. TK Maxx, Target, Big W and even Aldi (Please link these stores to their url) have some great table settings that can set a very stylish Christmas theme.

Really get in the spirit by setting out some bonbons for guests to have fun with.

Get crafty with the bonbons you set on the table! There are plenty of tutorials out there giving a step by step rundown of how to make them. You can find plenty of cheap goodies to hide inside them from Dollar Time, Reject Shop and Smart Dollar. (Please link these stores to their url)

If you’re feeling creative, you could even make your own Christmas cards. Pick up stationary supplies from Warrawong Newsagency(Please link these stores to their url), Big W or Target.

Plan the menu

Having the menu planned well in advance ensures you’ll be able to shop for the ingredients ahead of time. Also making sure you won't miss out on the popular items that usually sell out. You might want to have a summer Christmas full of seafood and salads, or you may want to go with traditional turkey and warm side dishes.

If you have left it until last minute, don’t stress because Country Grocer will be open nice and early, 5am on the weekend before Christmas. Plus Coles, Aldi, Fish Feast and other major retailers will have extended trading hours in the lead up to Christmas.

Don’t forget the drinks

With all of this concentration on the food, make sure you don’t forget the drinks! Think about who’ll be attending the lunch. Will there be kids? Is it an all adults lunch? Be sure to have non-alcoholic options as well as kid friendly juices.

Shop for your drinks at Liquorland as well as our supermarkets.

Think about a platter
