Dads are the best and there are so many types. We have the ‘Sports Dad’, the ‘Superman Day’, the ‘Dad in the Kitchen’ and even the ‘Cool Dad’. They are there to support you in any activity you want to play, they let you eat the fun, yummy food and we all have memories of always the one to “Superman” you in the air as a Kid!
With Father’s Day fast approaching on September 2nd, it’s time to put some thought into the best way to say Thank You Dad!
We’ve put together 10 activities to do with your Dad (including a great offer for those car lovers!). Up for the challenge? Why not do them all!
If your Dad loves to surf, join him! If you’re not that keen to get in the water, going to the beach with him will still make his morning. Go one step further and bring home his favourite takeaway coffee to surprise him when he wakes up for your early morning together.
If your Dad’s in the need of some new clothes, shop for something he will love! If it’s not clothes that he needs, food, footwear, sports or accessories are always great options and by shopping at Warrawong Plaza, you can receive a FREE $10 Star Car Wash Gift Voucher. Perfect if your Dad loves his car.
Simply spend $70 or more at participating retailers, or $150 or more at Coles, Aldi, Big W or Target in a single day to receive the voucher! To claim your voucher, take your receipts to Concierge and sign up to receive the Warrawong Plaza newsletter.
Now that you have your Star Car Wash Gift Voucher, go and check your Dad’s car in! He’ll feel great driving around in a freshly cleaned car on his special day.
While you’re waiting for the car to be finished, take your Dad out for a big breakfast at one of our cafés. He would have built up a serious appetite after all that surfing and will definitely be happy with a delicious meal.
If sitting at a café isn’t really your Dad’s thing, stroll on over to Bunnings Warehouse for a sausage sizzle, or two.
After you’ve picked up his car, take a cruise down to Shellharbour and Bass Point to look out for the first lot of humpback whales migrating south for the season. It’s only a 20 minute drive from Warrawong Plaza and a good chance to sing along to your favourite tunes with your Dad! If the whales aren’t putting on a show, enjoy some more time outdoors together by taking a walk around the gorgeous beaches along the coast.
If there’s one thing Dads really wants on Father’s Day, it’s to spend quality time with loved ones. Why not grab the rods and head up to Austinmer for a relaxing afternoon by the water. Fishing is a perfect setting to enjoy some calm, peaceful time together. Its ideal for long chats and catching up.
(We’ve heard from a few of Warrawong Plaza’s locals that fishing near Headlands Hotel is the spot to catch some decent fish. Head just behind the rocks near the hotel on Headland Avenue).
If all that fishing’s worked up your Dad’s thirst, take him to the local pub for a cold brew. If you’re not of age, you may need your Mum to pick up his favourite beer from Liquorland and find a shady spot to sit outside instead.
After a big day out adventuring in the sun, your Dad’s probably going to be keen to relax behind the screen. There’s no better time than a Sunday afternoon to watch a game of footy. While the Dragons would have played the night before, your Dad can still tune into the Broncos and Sea Eagles game to unwind from the day.
Cooking up your Dad’s favourite dinner will be a sure treat! Especially if you know what this is without even asking him. (If you haven’t done the shopping beforehand, now is the perfect time to take a trip to Coles or Aldi at Warrawong Plaza to pick up the ingredients you need before the game is finished).
Once the meal is ready, you can sit back, laugh and recap over the day’s adventures.
